Mammoth a perfect family spot all year round. With cascades falling through almost every forest and canyon, Mammoth Lakes is a place where you can truly chase waterfalls. Rainbow Falls offers the most dramatic scene, with falls plunging at 100 feet and the sun often reflecting a rainbow through the mist from the falls. The 250 foot Twin Falls is set off of a cliff and the surrounding landscape makes a great place for a picnic or leisurely hike. After chasing waterfalls make sure to stop and see Devils Postpile National Monument, This unique geological structure features thousands of hexagonal basalt columns formed 100,000 years ago when lava flow slowed and then cooled and cracked.
