Visitors come to Mammoth Lakes for breathtaking views of waterfalls such as Rainbow Falls, amazing fishing at Twin Lakes, Lake George, and fast access to Yosemite National Park. Another amazing sight to see is Devil's Postpile. Established in 1911 by presidential proclamation, Devils Postpile National Monument protects and preserves the columnar basalt formation, the 101-foot high Rainbow Falls, and pristine mountain scenery. The Devils Postpile National Monument, largely contained in the Ansel Adams Wilderness, is a gateway to the High Sierra backcountry range.
